"Plan Ahead. Protect Their Future. Because They're Family."

Who We Are

A planning platform built for the family animals we love

PawsinTrust™ is a family animal care planning platform dedicated to helping families prepare for the most common, time-sensitive situations that affect the animals they love. We were created at the intersection of healthcare, law, and animal advocacy, informed by real-world experience supporting families during moments of crisis.

Too often, family animals are overlooked in emergency and incapacity planning, leaving caregivers, veterinarians, and loved ones without clear guidance when decisions must be made quickly. Our purpose is to close that gap with structured, accessible, and professional-quality planning materials.

Our Mission

Helping families plan ahead with compassion, clarity, and responsibility

So family animals receive consistent care when their family animal parents are unavailable or unable to communicate.

Family animals are not property

They are family and they deserve a plan that reflects the love they give us every day.

Preparedness reduces harm

A calm, organized plan reduces stress, confusion, and unnecessary suffering during a crisis.

Clear documentation supports professionals

Caregivers, veterinarians, and attorneys can act confidently when intentions are clearly recorded.

Thoughtful planning should be accessible

Planning ahead should feel approachable, never intimidating or overly legalistic.

Meet the Founder

A Letter from Dawn Elliott

Dawn Elliott

Nurse, Attorney & Founder

When I became both a nurse and an attorney, I never imagined how often those two worlds would intersect during moments of crisis. Over the years, I have sat with families facing sudden illness, incapacity, and loss — moments when clear planning matters most.

In those moments, one question was asked far too often and answered far too late: "What happens to the animals?"

As an attorney practicing in wills, trusts, and estates, I saw firsthand how frequently family animals were left out of even the most carefully drafted plans. As a nurse, I witnessed the emotional toll this uncertainty placed on families, caregivers, and medical professionals during emergencies.

PawsinTrust™ was created to close that gap — to ensure that Family Animal Guardians have thoughtful, structured planning in place before a crisis occurs. No family should have to rely on informal promises or rushed decisions when clear guidance could have been prepared ahead of time.

This platform is rooted in a simple belief: Family animals are not property — they are family. My commitment is to provide tools that are compassionate, practical, and responsible — tools that respect the roles of attorneys, veterinarians, and caregivers, while empowering families to plan with confidence.

Thank you for trusting PawsinTrust™. It is an honor to support you in protecting the ones who cannot speak for themselves.

With respect and gratitude,

Dawn Elliott

Nurse, Attorney & Founder of PawsinTrust™
